Freelancing

Freelancing or Pay per Project

Freelancing is a non exclusive engagement, by definition a freelancer is not an employee but is like a free agent, an independent contractor who provides a specific service to a client or clients. It can be long term or short term, part time or full time, fix or hourly rate contract.

There are things to consider if you are thinking of starting your home based business. Your choices will depend on your skills and interests, whichever fits best for you. If capital is an issue, there are those with low start up cost, like Freelancing. It is one of the lowest cost and the easiest.

The more experience you have the more in demand your services will be. You can offer your services to the highest bidder, isn’t that nice.. turning the table. Some employers who are working with talented freelancers would want to control where and when to do the project. This could lead into a problem depending on the location both of the freelancer and of the employer. There are certain tax rules that apply.

oDesk

There are multiple freelancing websites like oDesk.com and eLance.com where you can bid on completing a project provided by employers. It is very competitive, more and more talented individuals joined freelancing due to the ease in working from home. By the way odesk and eLance merged couple of months ago and is now eLance-oDesk.

This is the only workplace I had experienced with. They pay the freelancers every weekend. So this is the screenshot. When you decide to check it out just go to their website odesk.com and click that button and create your Freelancer profile, or you can read more about oDesk in my related post.
